    Askpedia is an Online Community for knowledge sharing using Questions and Answers. With Askpedia, you can connect with other people to find information, get advice, and benefit from the collective knowledge and wisdom within the community.

    Askpedia is a service provided by HanPerson.com, an Internet company based in Palo Alto, California that is focused on creating compelling applications for the Social Web.

    Askpedia allows you to turn to real people if you're making an important decision and need information or advice. You can post a question on Askpedia and receive multiple personalized answers from the community. With Askpedia, you benefit from the knowledge and wisdom of real people instead of relying on limited and outdated information published on web pages.

    Askpedia also provides an integrated Search Engine that allows you to search for Answers from the leading Question and Answer sites on the Web. If you have a question, chances are that someone has already asked the question on Askpedia or another Q&A website.     There is a lot of information on the Web, but not all human knowledge is organized and accessible on the web. In many cases it's much easier and better to ask people for advice and help. Instead of wading through search results with thousands of web pages, Askpedia allows you to tap into the collective knowledge of people in the entire community and receive customized responses.

  6. Do I have to pay to use Askpedia?

    Participating in Askpedia is totally FREE. You can signup for a user account, ask Questions, answer Questions, search and view answered Questions without paying any money. Instead we give you a set of Points which you can use to ask Questions. In fact, you can even make Money if you provide enough Best Answers to Questions.

  7. Can I make money by contributing to Askpedia?

    Yes, you can actually make Money by contributing to Askpedia. When you answer Questions and your Answer is selected as the Best Answer, you receive Points. You also receive Points for logging into Askpedia on a regular basis. When you accumulate enough Points, you can cash out your Points using PayPal.

Getting Started
  1. How can I start using Askpedia?

    Askpedia is an open community so you can start using Askpedia immediately. You can view Questions and Answers and search for answered Questions without creating an account. If you want to participate by asking Questions and Answers, you can create a free account by clicking on the "Sign Up / Login" links.

  2. How do I create my free account on Askpedia?

    Create your free account by visiting the "Sign Up / Login". All you need to do is select a username that is 4 or more letters and number only, enter your email address and a secret password. Your account will be created immediately and you can starting asking/answering Questions.

  3. Why do I have to create an account on Askpedia?

    Creating an account on Askpedia allows you to keep track of your Questions and Answers. By providing your email address, you will receive notifications when you receives Answer, Comments, and Compliments to your Questions and Answers. Also, uou will begin to establish a track record and gain recognition for your contributions to the Askpedia community.

  4. How do I ask a Question?

    You can ask a Question at any time by clicking on the "Ask Question" tab. This will show a form where you can enter your Question subject and supporting details. After entering your Question, select a category and specify tags to help people find your Question. You can then specify how many Points you want to offer as a reward for the Best Answer. Lastly, click on the Preview button to preview your Question before submitting it to Askpedia.

  5. How do I know if I have Answers to my Question?

    Whenever someone answers your Question or leaves a Comment regarding your Question, you will see the activity appear in your Activity stream. You can access your Activity Stream by logging into Askpedia and clicking on the "Home" tab. At the end of the day, you will also receive an email alerting you if you have any new Answer activity.

  6. What do I do after I receive Answers to my Question?

    After you receive Answers to your Question, you can interact with your answerers by leaving comments about their Answers and also compliment great Answers. When you have received enough satisfactory Answers, you should select a Best Answer and reward the person who provided the Best Answer.

  7. How do I answer Questions?

    Answer Questions by clicking on the "Answer Questions" tab to see the list of Questions posted on Askpedia. You can sort and filter this question listing to find Questions that are relevant to your interests and expertise. You can then click on a Question subject to view the Question and post your Answer by clicking on the "Answer" button.

  8. What happens if my Answer is selected as the Best Answer?

    If your Answer is selected as the Best Answer, you receive the Points offered for the Best Answer to the Question. These Points accumulate in your Points account and when you have enough Points, you can cash them out to your PayPal account.

Points and Earning Money
  1. What are Points?

    Points are Rewards that you earn by contributing to the Askpedia community. When you earn enough Points, you can convert them to Cash which are paid out using PayPal.

  2. How can I earn Points?

    The primary way of earning Points is by providing great Answers to Questions and having your Answer selected as the Best Answer by the asker. You then receive the Question Reward as Points. You also receive a set amount when you create an Askpedia account. You receive additional Points for logging into Askpedia on a regular basis.

  3. What can I do with Points?

    Points are used to ask Questions on Askpedia. When you ask a question, you need to provide at least 1 Point as a Reward for the Best Answer. If you have an important Question, you can provide a large Points Reward to attract great Answers. The amount is deducted from your Points balance when you ask the Question. You can also choose to accumulate the Points and cash them to your PayPal account.

  4. Can I buy more Points?

    If you need additional Points to ask an important Question, you can purchased additional Points using PayPal. You can purchase these additional Points from your "Home" tab. Each Point costs USD $0.01 and the minimum purchase is $5.

  5. How do I cash out my Points?

    If you accumulate more than 10,000 Points, you will see an option in your "Home" tab to cash them out to your PayPal account. Your Points will be redeemed as USD $0.75 for every 100 Points.

Experience, Levels and Recognition
  1. What is Experience?

    Experience (or "Exp") is a way of keeping track of all of your contributions to the Askpedia Community. It is a way of keeping score and recognizing active Users. As you gain more Experience, you move up Levels which start from Nusery and go all the way up to God Level.

  2. How do I gain Experience?

    You gain Experience by participating in Askpedia. Every time you ask a Question, select Best Answers or answer Questions you receive Experience. You also receive Experience when you receive Answers to your Question or when you receive Compliments for your Question or Answer.

  3. What happens if I gain more Experience?

    As you gain more Experience, your Levels and Level Titles go up. People at higher Levels have higher Experience and have made greater contributions to Askpedia. You also get recognized for your contribution by being featured as a Top User across different time periods.

Asking Question Tips
  1. How do I ask a good Question?

    Enter a concise and catchy Subject line that is easy to understand. You can then provide supporting details in the Question Details section. If people comment on your Question and find it confusing, you can also view your Question to add additional Question details. Lastly, make sure you provide a large Question Reward. Questions with larger Rewards will get more attention and attract better Answers.

  2. How can I interact with users who answer my Questions?

    You can interact with others around your Question by leaving comments in the Question Discussions section of your Question. Each Answer also has an individual comments section where you can leave comments to interact with users answering your Question. Whenever you leave a comment, the Answerer will notified by a new Activity entry in their Activity Feed.

  3. How do I compliment great Answers?

    You can compliment Answers by clicking on the "Compliment" button under the Answer. This will bring up a dialog when you can enter an optional message along with your compliment. This compliment will then appear in the Comments section of the Answer.

  4. How do I select Best Answers?

    You can select the Best Answer at any time after you receive Answers to your Question. Select the Best Answer by viewing your Question as a logged in user. You will then see a button called "Select Best Answer" under the user image for each Answer. Click on this Button to select the Answer as the Best Answer and the Answerer will receive the Question Reward.

  5. What happens if I don't select a Best Answer?

    If you don't select a Best Answer within 10 days of asking your Question, Askpedia will select a Best Answer automatically and award the Question Reward if there are enough indications that there is a reasonable answer to your Question.

Answering Question Tips
  1. How do I provide great Answers?

    When answering Questions, you should provide a short concise Answer that provides the information requested in the Question. Where possible, you should include and reference facts and information sources to increase your Answer credibility. If you are including information from other sources, make sure to include the reference in the "Source" field for your Answer.

  2. What is an Open Question vs Answer Question?

    A Question is in Open status if the Asker has not yet selected a Best Answer. If you provide an Answer to an Open Question, you still have the opportunity to receive the Question Reward by being selected as the Best Answer. If a Question is Closed, the Asker has already selected a Best Answer and you will not be able to receive the Question Reward. However, you can still answer the Question and receive Experience and Compliments for contributing your knowledge to the Askpedia community.

  3. What happens if my Answer is selected as the Best Answer?

    When the Asker selects your Answer as the Best Answer, the Question Reward is transferred into your Points account and you will gain additional Experience. You will also be notified via an entry in your Activity Feed.

Flagging Questions and Answers
  1. What is considered inappropriate content on Askpedia?

    Content that contains harassament, expressions of hatred, bigotry, racism, or pornography, discussions of illegal activities, sexual topics, and offensive topics are considered inappropriate content on Askpedia.

  2. How do I flag inappropriate Questions?

    Every Question contains a link to flag the Question as having inappropriate content. This link is found in the "About this Question" located on the right hand side of the Question page. When flagging inappropriate content, include a short reason for flagging the content as being inappropriate.

    Every Answer contains a link to flag the Answer as having inappropriate content. This link is found under the Answer. When flagging inappropriate content, include a short reason for flagging the content as being inappropriate.

    Every Question Comment and Answer Comment contains a link to flag the Answer as having inappropriate content. This link is found under the Comment. When flagging inappropriate content, include a short reason for flagging the content as being inappropriate.

  5. What happens when content gets flagged?

    Every content that is flagged by users is examined by the Askpedia editorial team. If the content is deemed to be a violation of Askpedia's terms of use, the content will be removed from Askpedia, and the Reward associated with the Question will not be refunded to the Asker.
