I worked as a financial analyst for a while and was doing nicely. I observed that I would be a branch manager someday and when I was older I would be put in charge of a branch that could not produce enough revenue to make a profit, but the system needed the information. Then I would be fired and too old to start another career. So I decided to go into business for myself and went to dental school. That led to a good life in a town where I could raise good kids.

The most important decision I've made that really counts with me was when I became an Uncle. I swore at the time that these precious kids would never see my angry/depressed/or negative side. To spare them that, I thought, would be the greatest gift I could give them, and myself. Turns out I was right. I'd sooner stay away if I'm in a bad state of mind than inflict it on my nieces and nephew. Looking back, this taught me self discipline and made me a great role model. I have no regrets in this area, and that's what's most important to me. It's an important decision that I'm proud of to this day!
Thanks, MB. Those kids mean the world to me. They continue to teach and inspire me, and I have their love. What could be more important in life than that? Thanks for giving me the opportunity to share.
Deciding to get married was a BIG ONE for me......I didn't want any children so I didn't see the point of ever really making it official with anyone. My husband and I lived together for 10 years and then decided to get married one day. We have been official married now for 9 years. So I had him for a total of 19 years altogether. He just passed away on June 20th. This was one of the best decsions I ever made. I was 34 when we met, he was 45. I think it's best not to get in such a hurry to find that perfect someone. They will eventually come along!
I'm so sorry for your loss but am so happy you found your true love and cherished him for all those years, and though he's gone from this world, I can easily tell, he lives on in your heart. Bless you!
How wonderful that you found such a wonderful man. Some people search a lifetime for one such as he, and never find them. You were blessed with 19 years together, and although I feel your loss, I know that he's with you every day. Here's a huge hug for you.
