Hmm a thought provoking question indeed! Well the thing is where does it end .. there would have to be someone to save the lifeguard and then someone to save HIM.. and so on, you can just imagine the string of reserves, in fact we would all have to be reserves, hehe, got a mental picture!

That's why most large beaches have multiple lifeguards. If one lifeguard gets in trouble, the other can help out. It's a backup mechanism.

What if that second lifeguard gets into trouble? Well then you SOL (S*** Out of Luck). You can't guarantee against everything in life.
