Go to control panel-click sounds and audio devices-under the volume tab, be sure there is no checkmark next to mute, put a checkmark next to Place Icon in the Taskbar..then click the sounds tab-set to microsoft sounds, windows default, or original sounds. After you have it the way you want it, click ok to exit..I hope this helps. Good Luck..
