Is there a mechanism in place for returning BA points to the person who awarded them? I just received a BA from someone who doesn't understand the process. My answer was the only one they had received, so far (the question was up for almost no time at all before I answered it and the award came in seconds, before anyone else had a chance to answer. Knowing myself the way I do, there is every possibility that a better answer may have been forthcoming, had time been allowed for it.
I feel pretty silly receiving the BA under these circumstances. If I am to get any at all, I feel they should be earned.
Can I do anything about this? Maybe put an asterisk next to it, like Mark Maguire's career?
The asker liked your answer, and one time users often choose best answers right away. That's happened to me at least six times. Some new users don't see the best answer box, and those questions seem to stay in limbo for quite awhile no matter how many answers they get. Regular users wait, as a rule, until they get several opinions before choosing A BA!
Being the weekend, there may be fewer people available to help. It took over three hours for them to respond to foul language on a question today, and usually they are more prompt. See if they get back to you tomorrow.
Also, it's possible that your asker was so happy with your answer that they didn't want any others. As admirable as your wish is, the asker made a decision based upon what they were looking for. You can still run it by the AP administrators.
... and to think AP said the behaviour had changed, hey, that's funny !!

Considering you're a pretty bright guy I think it's safe to assume you'd have the BA anyway. That being said, you probably didn't earn more than 5 points or so which wouldn't make or break anyone's AP career.
I think you're safe, let your conscience rest easy.
You did a good thing someone got an answer because you took the time and you deserve the best answer.
I got many best answer because of the same reason i was the only one even if my answer was to say that i did not have the answer but want to welcome them to the site.
I wonder how many people in askpedia goes without an answer.
Keep up the good work .
