What are the essential travel items that you take with you no matter where you travel ??????
Do you tend to over pack or underpack ??????
Do you have any really strange items that you take on your travels ??????
Top item - credit card that is recognized all over the world! When driving long distances - here's a trick I learned. Wear thrift store clothes while driving, then toss them in the garbage. Pack only good clothes for going out to dinner and sight-seeing, etc. Saves on laundry expenses, and they can be shoved in the trunk in plastic grocery bags - not in luggage. Rolling clothes instead of folding them saves space in suitcases and require little or no ironing. If I have to stay in hotels, I get a little weird! I have a little cleaning kit I don't leave home without. Even the best and cleanest hotels rarely clean T.V. remote controls and telephone receivers. (A maid told me that!) Antibacterial wipes do the trick, and you're less likely to get sick on vacation!
I don't like to take too much stuff. It gets in the way. A few mix and match things, some toiletries and away I go. I always bring my portable DVD player and some movies for the flights because I'm bored out of my mind while flying. The camera is always there and I have my laptop for flight confirmations, and to download my camera memory stick, as well as catching up with messages and email. I hate to cart a lot of stuff around, so I really like to keep it simple. If I really need something, I can always get it there.
So... world traveler... when are you going to visit the Windy City? I know a great tour guide to all the great spots. You'd love Rush Street (aka... party central).

My essential items are my camera, some make up, sun glasses and something to protect my hair from too much sun. I must say that I do tend to over pack!!! I wore hardly any of the summer clothes I packed when I went to Italy - it was far too hot for anything except shorts and tops and I had to buy another dress there for the evenings! My 'strange' item, I guess would have to be my tweezers!!!!
Heather I am just like you... I seem to always over pack and still manage to leave essentials behind.... I will never learn !!!
My "unusual" item is that I pack a medical emergency kit for almost anything and everything (and have NEVER needed it !!!!!!!!!!!!)
Thanx Jen, I always have a struggle to make the Airline weight allowance as I do tend to over pack. Don't think that I will ever learn.
