I was helping my son move, and I wrecked my vehicle. It could not be moved so the police had it towed, not impounded. The tow company said I had to pay all fees before getting my personal belongings. Thier company policy. The police refused to help, and said that I had to pay the fees because it's the tow company's policy, and it didn't matter what the state rules said. I ended up giving the tow company the title to my vehicle to get my son's stuff, and I still have to pay all the fees that added up while they were stalling me with excuses. I even tried to get the tow company to look up the rules on the internet or call the state, they refused and even became hostile with me. I feel that we were treated unfairly. Also all that my son had was the clothes he was wearing that day, everything else he owned was in our vehicle. By the way the rule is Utah R909-14-24 in case anyone wants to look it up.
