Rage, Hate, and profound, chronic Depression have done the most harm to me. I'm trying to get a handle on them and I feel like I am gaining the upper hand as time goes on but it can be hard at times.
Boy, I get that. Been there, done that... and yes, life does go on. There is light at the end of the tunnel, and it really isn't the train bearing down on you!
When tragedy strikes, we may not be able to live with it, but eventually we learn to live in spite of it. The road is long when you're on your way back and it has its' potholes, but the journey itself requires strength, especially where there's no destination in sight! And, I have a flashlight so you don't get lost! It's disguised as humor!
I'd have to say anger for one. If we carry it around inside us, it eats us up and is detrimental to our emotional and physical well being. Especially when we can't let go of a past injustice done to us. This feeling only hurts us, not the one(s) we're angry at. I've seen it almost destroy relationships, and in some cases families. Hatred of others or self-hatred can only lead to misery and isolation, if we allow it to go unchecked. I think that's why it's so important to let the past go and forgive, otherwise we're stuck in a bad place and we can't grow and move on with a healthy attitude. I mean, look at what's been done in the world out of anger or hatred...does it ever get us anywhere? The cost is too high in my opinion.
EMOTIONS ARE LIKE SEX AND WHISKEY AND SHOULD ONLY BE EXPERIENCED ON DAYS STARTING WITH THE LETTER " T "
T : THANKSGIVING; TUESDAY; THURSDAY; TODAY; TOMORROW; THATURDAY; THUNDAY... EVERY THUCKING DAY !!!
...Hehe !!!
There isn't just one emotion... it can be several. Anger, malice, aggression, unapproachability, being closed minded, inability to accept blame, lack of forgiveness, doubt, suspicion, fear, anxiety, isolation, sadness, defensiveness... these all add up to one whopping blow to one's psyche.
This can take a normally healthy psyche and turn it into a seething bed of poison. If a person can't find a way to let this ugliness go, accept their own humanity and that of others, they will not be happy or healthy. The mind and body connection are very close. It's a pity when people know that they are dead wrong and can't let things go, isn't it?
to stubborn to except the fact that instead of the world being against us,
that sometimes we are our own enemies. sometimes we are the ones that are wrong.. if one person says that i am wrong than that could be the
other is against me. but if more say that i am wrong and i still cant accept it
than i am wrong and at fault. some people can not say there sorry even if it kills them. and in some ways it does.. down inside..
It's well documented that Anger and Hatred kill the heart very fast by the elevated cortisol (stress hormone) that it creates when someone is in anger and hatred for an extended time. The body can't tolerate that without strain and damage.
Its usually accompanied by depression and loneliness (because no one wants to be around them eventually and loneliness is also known to cause early sickness and death).
