I am sure the pet bedding is safe for your hamster, if it says non toxic and safe for hamsters, etc. For your own peace of mind, you may want to take the bedding out and replace with other bedding that you have been using.

Get a bail of straw and put it in the shed. Straw holds warmth as it is hollow in the middle. When the bedding is soiled then throw it away(good fertilizer for the garden)A bail will last you a long time.Another point is that hamsters use each other for body warmth so is better to have 2 than just one on it's own.As the hamster is young it is the best time to get another young one in before they start developing cranky habits.
