People want instant gratification. Television has glamorized the entertainment industry in such a way that the impossible really does seem possible. They want the fast and easy way to do things. This includes thinking that they'll achieve fame and fortune through reality shows and competitions. The odds of this happening are next to none.

The only way to have any chance at success is to get an education and make the most of it. However, that does entail hard work, effort and thought, which seem to be in short supply from what I've seen on this site lately.
