Are you in the US ?
Disconnecting the battery will work on some cars. Don't know about Fords.
Auto Zone will tell you what turned on the light, and clear it for free. If the problem is still present the light will eventually come back on.
Find out what it is........and fix it

had i known that i would have delayed me 30,000 mile maintenance ($500), the light was on, so it wouldn't pass smog check. no i don't have anew car, it's over 10 years old. i take the bus, or subway
