Sometimes, as a nurse, your clients forget that you are a real person under the uniform. We are used more as a medical tool, or means to get what they want. I can handle it with patients/clients, but I fight back with other professionals, especially doctors. Depersonification and objectification are two of the most demeaning attitudes a person can demonstrate. Try clicking your fingers at the waiter or telling a policeman that "you pay his salary" and see what kind of service you will get!
Back when I was a sweet young thang, I was objectified on a regular basis. I couldn't go out with my girlfriends without being groped or propositioned...I sure dumped a lot of drinks on guys in those days. That was a sure way to make sure that I wasn't over served!
