It is not that they need exactly the Winnie the pooh rattle at all, they could have any type of rattle. But I agree in both answers that;

Waste of money but also it is for eye and hand coordination.

Waste of money because I am sure because it was Winnie the Pooh that it was over priced, and you would be able to get a cheaper rattle. But don't forget that these little toys that may seem like they aren't important, may actually be very important to the growth of the baby.
