I prefer Winamp for playing MP3 files while for playing movies and other formats like WAV et al, I prefer Windows Media Player.

Winamp for music, for about last 10 years and probably forever.
Media Player Classic for all the rest. I discovered this free player recently and I'm very happy with it. It's completely free to download and it plays everything.

If u wanna fool around try using Virtual DJ nice way to mix and match ur own music

Use ITunes! It's free. It also compacts (all most half the file size as an MP3) music files to AAC format that you can play on an IPod
