The chief executive executive is usually elected every four years. A few states elect governors every two years. The other members as heads are selected at the beginning of an administration and in the Federal executive branch are confirmed by the senate. They are replaced as they resign. Other lower classified members are hired as members of the civil service as needed on a continuing basis.
