Dementia doesn't kill you by itself, however, many things that come along with dementia (since it tends to come in packages like Alzheimer's or Parkinson's) can make you more susceptible to disease or minor injuries. I guess it also depends on how good the people around you are at making sure you aren't doing anything that could possibly kill you as well.

At this point, the only type of dementia that can kill you is Alzheimers. Because it slowly strips the victim of all brain activity, it is possible that you could live long enough to "forget" how to breathe. I have seen people who have lived for 12 years with Alzheimer's. And I have also seen a few that survived more than 2 decades with other forms of dementia.
