An abdominal hernia can cause the stomach to slide through it, creating a pouchlike area that isn't included in the digestive process. The stagnant enzymes form gases there and "burn" like an ulceration (which can occur eventually). You need to see your doctor about repairing the hernia, and getting the entire digestive system back on track. Good luck and a speedy return to good health.
