Boy Scouts lets you experience a lot of activities which can turn out to be quite valuable when it comes to daily life and surviving within the millions. It gives you that push and confidence to easily step out into the wild and be able to handle complicated situations. New friends, secrets, discoveries behind each scout trip :D
Growing up I was in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts both to me were a lot of fun and I learned a lot because of being in them. One thing the scout master could never figure out was how I could build a fire when I got cold at night when it was raining (dry kinling is the little secret which can be found under dead bark and scraped off and protected twigs under leaves). I grew up camping but they taught me me a lot more than that, I think the most important was to work as a team but was NOT called that at the time only in the last few years has that term been used.
It's hard to find a good boy shout pack to join. Have you explored sea scouts?
In my opinion the scouts are then learning a useful skill and most of what they learn in the scouting world.
