There's a wide range...take your pick. Why are the manufacturers/companies getting away with this?

Yes, I know what you mean, I see adverts from all industries stating that their product is the best and does amazing things. Like washing up liquid, cleaning more for less and the new shampoo will make your hair look totally refreshed. I have often bought many products due to advertsing and have been disapointed with the results. I agree with Donna when she says the small print sucks.

Another thing I am fed up with also is Online advertising promises.

I rarely look twice at adverts on the computer. The likes of them on this website (where it says ads by google).

There are a lot of people who will see a huge flashy, eye catching adverts, and sign up or purchase there product instantly. One of the worst is "Proven way to make money online." I, and probably the majority of people see ads stating they will make £5000 in 5 minutes every day.

There are so many scams out there, that I am sure many people have lost hundreds of $/£s with there promises, and the true is, they are too excited to read the small print. I signed up to a few money making websites, now, over a year ago. Mainly survey sites. (in which some are legit, but not worth your time). As expected, I made nothing. I was sucked in by the big promises the advertisers made.

I have seen a lot of health ones recently, one says "loose 5lb in 5 days" or something along that line. I think all the promises are possible, but whats the likelyhood?? 0.001% probably.

One more thing I'll mention is travel. I am sure you see airlines advertising "fly to London for £10!!" etc. The thing they never tell us is: how much are the taxes and charges, baggage charges, airport fee, credit card fee etc etc. It all piles up, doesn't it?

I know Kyle. But they are not lying in the truest sense of the word. They are relying on a gullible public to only read the big words all dressed in red to catch their eye, and then to read no further. If each of us did read the rest of the label (which often requires carrying a magnifying glass with a light!), we would see that there are no miracles promised, just grand hype presented to pull us in, then diminished to reality in the small print. Ah advertising, what a creative career!

There is the medical ads. Take this and cure your (blood pressure, cholesterol, weight problem) Then they say, "you might have nausea, headaches and liver disease." I will take the original problem rather that have pain, throw up and need a liver transplant.

Then there is the 'new' and 'improved'. I once asked an honest salesman, "what's new and improved about it." He told me that they charge 50% more for it and that is a big improvement and something new for us.

There is a law that they can only go so far. Once in a while you hear about some company getting in trouble, but not very often.

Its a matter of trial and error. The manufacturing companies get away with it because the consumer feeds off the propaganda. If it doesn't work for you, then don't buy it. The manufactures and companies contribute to the politicians who make the laws to protect us, or do they? We, as consumers, have to stop believing the false promises and start making our own decisions.
