I'd say that wasn't a period at all last month - you were probably already pregnant, and what you were experiencing was spotting which wasn't unusual. You probably got pregnant about two weeks to ten days before your period was due last month, or about a week before the spotting occurred. You're probably about five weeks pregnant. Your doctor will know when he/she does a pelvic exam.
