Which birth control pill best prevents acne? I am 30 years old and have struggled with acne since fifth grade. My current pill, Lo/Ovral, helps the acne on my face, but I'm breaking out along the jawline and neck; it's especially bad the week before my period.
The pimples can be painful and sometimes bleed if they break open while washing or toning my face.
You might be using too strong a product on your skin. Overscrubbing and cleaning, along with strong skin products, can irritate your skin to the point of causing bleeding and skin damage. Acne requires careful cleaning. You have to be very gentle with your skin.
Yaz is supposed to be very good for this sort of acne. You might also want to consult a dermatologist to get the best treatment possible for your skin.
All the birthcontol medications have a history of helpin acne sufferes, but it appears that it is one of those "personal preference" kinds of issues. If you have tried one and it didnt help, then ask your gyn dr. to prescribe a different one. I also suspect that your dermatologist has tried some antimicrobial/antibiotic creams and oral meds, but new ones are always showing up on the market, so stay on top of them. More than likely you have read most of the information on acne, but I thought this site was well written and wanted to share it with you. Good luck and good health. http://www.acne.com/cause_effects/causes...
