Subcortical: (adjective) : of, relating to, involving, or being nerve centers below the cerebral cortex.

Cavernoma: See cavernous hemangioma.

Cavernous Hemangioma: Cavernous hemangiomas are benign blood vessel tumors which are characterized by slow flow of blood through them. It is typically raised and red or purplish. Occasionally they bleed into the surrounding brain tissue. Cavernomas are readily visible on MRI studies. Not all cavernomas have to be removed. Surgery may be needed if they bleed into the brain or cause seizures which are difficult to control medically.

So, a Subcortical Cavernoma would be a benign blood vessel tumor which is located in or adjacent to the nerve centers below the cerebral cortex.
