Since times are getting more and more difficult to survive on a small Social Security and steadily rising costs of living, we are trying to add some additional Income to our house hold. I am just wondering if there are any restrictions to the amount of Garage Sales one can be doing per month or per year?

Check your local county, city and homeowners' association. These laws are local.

Good luck!

5. How many garage sales can someone have in a year's time?

Garage sales are permitted without special permit for no longer than three (3) days and sales are held no more than twice in a calendar year. Advertising signs must be placed on private property and removed within twenty-four (24) hours of completion of the sale. CCC 40.260.090

In the location where I live in Florida, there is no limit. I believe that holds true for the entire state.

I'm not sure about your area, you should try calling the town clerk! In our area we have no set # of times we can hold a sale, but we cannot leave it up all the time without a license. If you have a garage you can set it up in and just close the doors during the week, then open them on weekends, you may not have a problem - but even safer twice a month. I sympathize with needing extra income, we are planning a big sale in Spring, and are going through things to find items for it ahead of time. Good luck!

I have heard, in general, you can have a yard/garage sale four times a year without a permit (peddler's license).. this permit is very reasonable and will allow you to sell at least once per month. Check your city/county offices for their particular policy on the matter.
