It has become apparent that it is highly unlikely one could "challenge discrimination in a way that ENCOURAGES change."
It would be nice to think you can reason with a bigot. You can't. If they were capable of practicing or responding to reason, they wouldn't be bigots.
The only way to deal with discrimination is to crush it the minute you see it raising its ugly head. The inability of bigots to see reason and respond accordingly is what makes it necessary to pass workplace rules and laws of the land that prohibit and punish this kind of backward, poisonous thinking and behavior.
Those who like to discriminate rail against these laws, but it is their own willful ignorance and recalcitrance that makes those very laws necessary.
