it shows you are actively taking part in a conversation. You are
listening. With no listening there really isn't a conversation happening.
If you are listening passively, then you are giving little or no feedback.
This is like someone lounging dreamily on the couch, watching an old
movie. If you are like this, then you are unlikely to make coherent
responses. But if you are actively listening, then we have repartee',
where both speakers are enjoying a conversation.

Active listening and observation is an essential component of having a conversation with another human being. (If you want to be involved with that person). Paying attention to what is said and the body language will allow you to find what is important to this relationship. It may be a casual, professional or personal one. All are important. Be it a conversation with your child, clerk at the grocery store or even your spouse.

Not listening is hazardous.
