depending upon the symptoms, surgical proceedure, age and condition of the patient, treatment varies. It can range from warm or cool compresses for light pain and swellling, to heavy duty exercise/rehab, pain medications and other treatments to relieve tenderness pain, contractures (excessive tightness holding muscle in one position) and malformation. Your physical therapist and orthopedist should have helped you with a plan of action which could include all of the above. Pay attention and report to them when a treatment is not getting expected results. By the way, it is always good to ask what the doctor does expect to happen so you can monitor your healing appropriately. Good luck, and I hope you getthe results you are trying to achieve.
