We have an area rug that has some coffee stains on it. What's the best way of getting rid of coffee stains from a wool rug? Is it too late if it has been a couple of days?
You can have it cleaned by a professional, or you van use a good acting home remedy like this: To remove coffee stains from your carpet quickly blot the area with a clean, white cloth. Make sure to absorb as much of the liquid as you can. Next mix 1 teaspoon of a clear liquid dishwashing detergent with 1 cup warm water and sponge the area with the detergent solution. Blot again with a dry, clean cloth. Then, mix 1/3 cup white vinegar with 2/3 cup water and sponge the area with the solution. Blot dry agin. Remove the excess vinegar with a sponge and clean water. Dry with a fresh cloth. Make sure to avoid rubbing, this can cause the stain to spread
Here are several things to try:
Lift out stains from carpeting and upholstery by sponging them with 1 cup clear ammonia in 1/2 gallon (2 liters) warm water. Let dry thoroughly, and repeat if needed.
Use a baby wipe to blot up coffee spills from your rug or carpet; it absorbs both the liquid and the stain. Wipes can also be effectively deployed when attacking various spills and drips on your clothing and upholstered furniture.

Getting that coffee or tea stain out your rug may seem impossible, but you can literally lift it out by pouring a bit of beer right on top. Rub the beer lightly into the material, and the stain should disappear. You may have to repeat the process a couple of times to remove all traces of the stain.
Dip a white cloth into a beaten egg yolk and rub the yolk into the stain. Then rinse with clear water.
· Work denatured alcohol into the stain, then rinse with water.
· Apply a solution of 1/2 teaspoon mild detergent in a pint of water. Blot with a white towel. If the stain remains, apply a 50-50 solution of water and white vinegar and blot.
Never to apply heat to the stain because this will lock in the stain and removal will be next to impossible.
Vinegar is also a worthy stain fighter. If the stain isn't too bad, dilute one part of vinegar to two parts of water, pour on the stain and blot until the stain is lifted. If it's a big, deep stain, pour the vinegar directly from the bottle, saturating the coffee spot. Dab until the stain disappears. Once the stain is removed, blot again with a clean, damp cloth to rinse and get some of the vinegar smell out of the rug.
One of these just has to work.
Wash the particuler affected space of your carpet with i teaspoonful of LEMON JUICE mixed water or with a table spoon of vinegar as quickly as after the spot has been shown.
To remove the coffee stains mix a solution of one teaspoon of a neutral, mild detergent that has no bleaches in it with one cup of warm water.
Blot this onto the stained area with a terry cloth.
Use another solution made up of one third of a cup of white vinegar with two thirds of a cup of water and blot onto the stain.
Finally, blot with a dry terry cloth to remove the stain. Then, rinse with clean water and blot dry.
