For sometime now I have been wanting to write a book. I have it all written in my head, unfortunately. But when I finally get to write it down, how should I go about publishing. I read articles online stating I had to get an agent? and I really don't want to get one as it's too complicated do you about anything else I need?

Also, you may need an agent. Good luck on the writing process! I could never write a novel. I want an autographed first edition when it comes out, deal?

My daughter is presently trying to get a book published and it can get frustrating! She found a list of publishing companies which publish the type of book she has written, and she sends them copies of her manuscript. She got a lot of letters saying they don't accept unsolicited manuscripts, some who do, but rejected hers and now she's down to the letters stating she needs to re-edit her manuscript and re-submit it. She's been at this for over a year now, but she refuses to give up. She chooses to be her own agent, which is what you should do too. When you have the manuscript finished - that's when the real work begins. Have patience, expect a lot of rejections and eventually you will find publishing companies that will show some interest. Remember - if they ask for money from you - it's a scam!
