How do you pick a good LASIK doctor?

I'm considering getting LASIK surgery after all these years. I've seen lots of ads for LASIK doctors but I don't know how you pick one over another?

Any suggestions? How much should it cost?

I'm located in San Francisco.

Look for personal referrences. I had one acquaintaince who actually put an ad in the newspaper for referrences from anyone who had used a plastic surgeonin her area! By the way, she got a lot of calls and made a good choice.

Check with a LASIK doctor in your area, who has done the surgery longest. Get more info from his previous patients. and of course most LASIK doctors will have coupons for your first visit. mine did.
