Depakote (Sodium Valproate) is a commonly used anti-seizure medication that is showing success in managing aggressive behaviors. It appears effective in the elderly and has demonstrated good side effect tolerance.
Trazodone was used originally as an antidepressant but seems to be more effective in the elderly as a hypnotic (or sleep) agent. It is now a favored drug in managing acute aggressive behaviors in Alzheimer's patients.
There are some minor drug interactions that can happen when you take both drugs at the same time. From

MONITOR: Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients.
MANAGEMENT: During concomitant use of these drugs, patients should be monitored for potentially excessive or prolonged CNS and respiratory depression. Ambulatory patients should be counseled to avoid hazardous activities requiring complete mental alertness and motor coordination until they know how these agents affect them, and to notify their physician if they experience excessive or prolonged CNS effects that interfere with their normal activities.
I hope that helps.
