People looking for outward salvation - a means to justify life with that which cannot be explained, but must be believed. It is WE and not any devine being that is responsible for what happens on this earth. It is WE who will save or destroy ourselves. The only thing we have in common as human beings is that we are all different and that's what ulitmately makes us all the same.
I think the problem with 'problems' in this day and age is that people are far too willing to moan and complain (not that I'm saying you're doing that! I do my fair share) but not willing to act, individually and in a group effort. People in general are too comfortable to feel threatened enough by the ills in society and far too busy with work, family etc to act. And, why take action when someone else promises to do so for you? There are no leader anymore (Obama is the only political promise I have seen in my lifetime) The majority of people in positions of power couldn't care less about what issues affect people locally or globally, only how the pie is divided up and what slice they can take.

Oh Judes, you sure hit the nail on the head. You left out very little in that list. Sometimes I have to remind myself that all the awful things I read in the newspaper and see on the TV news reflect the actions of a very small percentage of the human population. And when it gets impossible to shake the sorrow I feel for us all, I stop getting the newspaper and watching TV. It helps preserve what little sanity I have left.

You pretty well said it all Judes! The injustices in society are unending! I too am a crusader for the underdog - those with problems over which they have no control, yet are shunned because of them! I try to channel my anger into something positive, and now that I'm retired I volunteer to help adults learn to read and write. It's a challenge, but I feel I can help people gain confidence, increase their earning power and improve their social skills with very little effort on my part. In that way, I can feel contentment and peace of mind in a world of pure chaos, unfairness, terror and injustice.

To those who believe in the Bible.

From time to time, you may need to remind yourself that we are living in “the last days” of this system of things. The Bible foretold that people today would be “abusive, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous. Many are “past all moral sense.” Injustice is therefore an inescapable fact of life. So “if you see any oppression of the one of little means and the violent taking away of judgment and of righteousness in a jurisdictional district, do not be amazed over the affair.

With good reason the Bible warns against letting bitterness consume you. For example, it says: “Let all malicious bitterness and anger and wrath be taken away from you.” Why? Because in the long run, remaining bitterly angry is harmful and self-destructive. This is particularly so if you find yourself “enraged against God. Being angry at God puts you on bad terms with the very One who can help you the most. The Bible says that God's “eyes are roving about through all the earth to show his strength in behalf of those whose heart is complete toward him.”.

The Bible also says of God: “All his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness, with whom there is no injustice; righteous and upright. Injustice came about because of the rebellion of Adam and Eve. Man—not God—has “dominated man to his injury.” Remember, too, that “the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one,” Satan the Devil. Satan, not od is behind the world’s injustices.

Fortunately, injustice will not go on forever. Keeping that in mind can help you to cope. Knowing that God will correct matters in the near future can help you to contain your anger and frustration.

Injustices will not disappear from the earth until God’s Kingdom comes and carries out God’s will earth wide. In the meantime, do what you can to cope. Sustain yourself with the promise that as the Ruler of God’s Kingdom, Jesus Christ will “deliver the poor one crying for help, also the afflicted one and whoever has no helper. He will feel sorry for the lowly one and the poor one, and the souls of the poor ones he will save.”

You may at times find it difficult to understand why God permits injustice in general or some specific wrong. But who are we—the moldings of his hand—to question his patience and wisdom in doing so? God said to Job: “Really, will you invalidate my justice? Will you pronounce me wicked in order that you may be in the right?”

Never will we want to be guilty of doing that. Rather, we will want to rejoice in knowing that although injustice is still with us, the God of justice will soon remove it from the entire earth.

Aside from all those you've already said, Judes, the following also make me sick:
- man's hunger for power
- man's worship of money & material things
- lack of concern for the environment -- forest denudation, air & water pollution, killing of wildlife. If nothing is done to stop these, just imagine what kind of planet our grandchildren & great grandchildren would be living in!
- people who do not know how to take responsibility for their actions & instead put the blame on others for their misfortunes
- people who are so self-righteous & judgmental of others
- idleness
- traffic

Perhaps the most annoying part of any group altogether is the constant need to separate each culture instead of tryign to merge and form a cohesive American culture.

I get frustrated by people who complain about EVERYTHING that happens in Congress, the Courts, and about every decision the President makes. But then, when you ask them how they would decide things, or ask them to come up with a better solution, they have no idea what to say. They haven't thought that far. They are just exercising their First Amendment-Protected right to complain.
