12:00 am is midnight and 12:00pm is noon. Morning time is12:00am to 11:59am, but at 12:00 noon it becomes pm. On the 24 hour system 12:00am is 0:00 and 12:00 pm is 12:00. To be technically correct, the 24 hour clock is used when referring to midnight and noon. ante meridiem (a.m., Latin "before noon") and post meridiem (p.m., "after noon") cannot be used here since the sun is at its highest point in the sky at 12 noon and is neither 'before' or 'after' the meridiem
