Race again
|
I hate to harp on about race, It is an interesting subject, and I would like to get to the bottom of it. I suppose I risk being called a racist myself simply because of my interest. I think we all have preconceived ideas about people are and would do in certain situations. I will always remember a commercial on tv where a white business man is walking with a cell phone in one hand and a laptop in its case in the other. He is walking away from the road where a beat up old car stops and A black guy gets out dressed in a bandanna torn jeans and tee shirt, The black guy rushes toward the business man from behind with a evil look on his face, just before he reaches the guy the film stops and the question is asked "What happened next?" After a few seconds on pause, the film continues and shows the black guy pushing the white guy forward and out of the way of a falling piano thus saving his life. I thought he was a mugger, did you?

No, you are not harping. (Yes I am a 41 year old white woman), and also dont consider myself to be a racist.
Why would I go there???? I have other problems to contend with, why on earth would I degrade my brothers and sisters on this earth????
As for the commercial that you may have seen.... shame on them.!!!! I havent seen it, but what exactly are they trying to say????

You do risk being caled a racist if you talk about it. That is something that should end. We would be better off talking and not calling names. Names are called when there is no good argument on the side of the name caller.
About the comercial. I am going to think a poorly dressed man comming at me is a mugger. Makes not difference if white or black. I would not think a well dressed man was a mugger. Not that he would't take my money, He just w...

There is one reason I'd think he was a mugger, and his less-than-pale skin has nothing to do with it. His expression would make me think he had an ill intent. If his expression was merely excited and intent, I wouldn't think that, but with an evil look? I think if your description of the commercial is correct, then the commercial is forcing you to think one way, then saying you were wrong to think it. This is as evil as the man's expression.
