This is almost a "duh"!! While some have addresed the subliminal problem of
increased humidity in the air, the real answer is a mechanical problem. YOU NEED TO REPLACE YOUR HEATER CORE!! It is leaking into the air stream coming across it.

Car windows fog up when water condenses on them. This can happen both on the inside of the window and on the outside. You can check to see in your mom’s car where the condensation is because it will be wet to the touch.
It sounds like outside humidity might be a problem (especially on the East coast). It is here in Illinois, particularly on hot, stormy days in the summer. Water will condense on a surface if the temperature of the surface is...

The windows on older cars fog up so easily because the window gets rain and snow on it so it attracts fog.

I know on our 93 Honda Accord we always had the same problem & had to turn on the A/C + the rear window defogger to quickly get rid of the fog. You can try the A/C but increase the heat. Then we left the windows open a crack Found out later it was normal body heat & breathing that caused this. Let your car run a bit before getting in to warm it up may help. Good luck!
