What causes pain in the lower right hand side of the abdomen?

I have a friend with pain on the right side of her abdomen near her belly button what causes this?

possibly appendicitis. she might want to get that checked out

The appendix is located on the right side! It sounds like she may have appendicitis! The best thing for her to do, is to see her doctor. The doctor will able to diagnose and treat the problem from there. She may have to have her appendix removed!
