You have to multiply the number outside of the parenthesis by all the terms inside the parenthesis. 3 times 24 gives you the number of fourths. And 3 times 2.
So 72/4 - 6.
Now reduce your improper fraction. Divide 72 by 4.
18 - 6
Subtract and the answer is 12....

if the whole [4-2] is under the 24 in the question, then your answer is 36. 4-2 is 2. 24/2 is 12. 12X3 is 36.

If the [-2] is after the 24/4 then your answer is 12. 24/4 is 6. 6-2 is 4. 3X4 is 12.
