However, this doesn't mean that your TV is now obsolete. You will be able to buy converter boxes which will allow you to take the digital signals and convert them to analog signals that can be viewed on your current TV.

Also, if you currently receive your television programming via a satellite service such as Dish Network or if you receive your TV from a cable service provider, you will not be affected by the move to digital TV signals.

One last thing, you don't necessarily need to buy a HDTV to view digital TV signals that will start broadcasting in February, 2009. With digital TV, they're just using a different technology to transmit the signals. The picture quality will still be equivalent to regular TV that can be viewed on your current TV.
