You really can be sued for this. The letter from the vet will be of great help in winning the case and/or limiting damages if you lose. The main problem is that you might not have followed all the legal requirements in the turn out. The good thing is that Indiana is a little simpler in the law that some other states. You need to consult with a lawyer to find out if you did enough right.
