It sounds to me that they feel they are becoming an issue to you. Maybe there problems or actions or even their own attitude. I would need more information that tells whats been going on before they stated this to you.

It probabley means that they are doing somethings that are affecting you and they dont want that to continue.

I think it means that he doesnt want to get into your way of having a succesfull life. He thinks he is holding you from becoming all you can be.
