I said "thank you". And I perhaps asked a question about it, if I needed to understand it. They were trying to help me. If it was valuable criticism, I tried to apply it. If not, I ignored it.
Then I decided it was better to study hard and be the supervisor who "helps" others than to be the one criticized. And so I did.

I can't think of anyone who hasn't been criticized by a supervisor or teacher. When I was younger, I was very shy and abused... so I just kept my mouth shut.... However NOW that I'm much older now, I don't accept too much criticisim unless its for my art work that I'm tryting to sell..

It really depends on the situation. Some criticism is good for the soul lol... Some, however can be harmful to self esteem...

If the criticism isn't valid or if it's coming from a hidden agenda or for other political reasons, the best thing to do is respond with a "I'll think about it" and then move on. You can't go through life always worrying about what other people are thinking about you.
