Popular singers and bands from the UK?
Some of the recent questions on music during the 1980's has gotten me thinking about popular music nowadays. One thing I've noticed is that in the 1980's a lot of the popular bands and singers were from the UK. Bands like Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, David Bowie, Culture Club, Def Leppard, Pink Floyd, Madness, etc. all came from the UK.

If you look at popular music nowadays, you just don't see that many really popular and successful musical acts from the UK? What do you think happened?

Is there some sort of reverse globalization going on in the music scene nowadays? I wonder if the same thing is happening in other countries.
