When is the best time to exercise? In the morning, afternoon, night? Does it even matter?

I've heard that generally, exercising in the morning will help you burn more calories because you're doing it on an empty stomach or after a light meal.
If you exercise in the afternoon, it will help you build muscle because your body is warmed up and has enough energy to push your muscles beyond their comfort zone.
In general, it's not recommended that you exercise in the evening.
