Downside of Toyota Prius?

I know all about the Toyota Prius's mileage ratings and how good it is for the environment etc. I've seen so many of them on the streets so I'm at the point of replacing my current car and getting a Prius.
Before I make the purchase, I want to hear from Prius owners who have lived with the car for some time. Everyone I talk to seems to love their Prius but I'm wondering if others have had some negative experiences with their car.
Also all batteries have a limited lifespan of a few years. How long will the Prius battery last and how much will it cost to replace them?

I had my Prius for a year, and I love it. The battery issue you hear about is mostly a FUD. Toyota offers 10 year warranty on the Prius battery. The car hasn't been out for 10 years yet, so we don't really know the real life span of the battery. But you won't have to worry about it for at least 10 years.

It's good to know they offer a 10 year warranty. You can drive most modern cars for 10 years these days. |

Since there was so much hype about the Prius, I actually test drove a friend's Prius. My conclusion is that it's just too wimpy. The fuel mileage might be great but the car just doesn't have enough power and the acceleration is abysmal. You can pretty much forget about having enough power to overtake other cars on a hill.
