Are you planning to see some fireworks this coming Fourth of July Holiday, or are you going to make some "fireworks" of your own?? How will you celebrate the 4th??
Over here the 4th isn't really celebrated alot, yes we hear of it but you wouldn't see celebrations, celebrations in Northern Ireland begin on the 11th night or 12th morning of July,
Different areas build up wood and tyres and other junk to burn from midnight on. I would look out my window over the city and see a few orange and yellow lights knowing they were bonfires. You hear noise blasting from nearby neighbourhoods celebrating.
I personally don't join in, I wouldn't celebrate it because it isn't really an event for everyone, the streets are decorated with Union Jacks and other flags and is not for anyone that considers themselves Irish (like me). I suppose there is nothing wrong with the celebration but the one that I don't like is on top of most bonfires they stick a tri colour or an Irish flag there, maybe even a dummy wearing a celtic top of Irish kit.

Sorry I went on a bit there...
I'd love to be in the US on the 4th, I am sure the atmosphere would be great anywhere you go. Enjoy the day everyone.
Four days earlier - on July 1st (Canada Day) However, I will make the celebration last to the 4th, and when I get out of rehab, I'll tell you about the fireworks - IF I can remember them!
If it wasn't for the cars and congestion of getting in and out of the places that offer the fireworks, I'd be there. I hate sitting in cars waiting forever for someone to move and let someone go. I usually get a good view of them from our front yard, so if the mosquitos aren't too bad, we'll put the lawn chairs out front and watch from there. Family will be here for the holiday, so we'll cook out, have a few drinks and enjoy the company.
we are rather lucky to have the party's within walking distance to our house.
on the 3rd the city shuts off the street behind us and puts on the party with food venders and games for the kids and a live band. twilite is the fire works.
we usually sit on the roof for a great show.
the 4th, all of the family comes to our block party. shut the street off and the hole street comes alive all day long. everyone drags the barbies out to the cerb and does the food. water fights and cotton candy and water slides..
night time and lots more fire works..great time,, been doing this for 5 years
now..
