Here are a list of films that I have viewed in the past few months. I'll give you my rating, and if you saw them, give me yours. 1.Righteous Kill-7 out of 10. Great to see DeNiro and Pacino share the screen and interact. Great storyline with a shocking twist ending. 2. Cloverfield-8 out of 10. Great effort to make a movie look like a documentary. Shaky camera work annoying at times, but excellent special effects and scary idea. 3. I Accuse-8 out of 10. Well acted true story of a woman's plight to fight injustice. I cheered for this character. 4. Seven Pounds-9 out of 10. I'm not a Will Smith fan, but he deserves an Oscar for his performance in this brilliant story of love and the power of giving. Thumbs way up. 5. The Number 23-7 out of 10. Jim Carrey pleasantly suprised me by giving a straight on, non comedic performance in this twist and turn mystery. Well done. 6. Reservation Road. Moving story of forgiveness and revenge. Heartbreaking and well written. Anyone could identify with what these characters went through, even if you're not a parent. Highly recommended by me. Last and least is number 7. Friday the 13th(2009). Awful, not scary, very disappointing remake of the classic horror thriller that generated a loyal fan following. What were they thinking? Has some good points, but the characters are so obnoxious you don't care if they live or die. Really lame effort all around. Well, that's my say. I want your ratings whether you agree with me or disagree, and all opinions are welcome. I do have high standards for the movies I like, but I think we all know what we like and hate about movies, so bring on the reviews and let's have some fun!
Here's my list for the recent movies I just watched:
Milk -- 10 out of 10. Love the story -- speaking of hope & equality. Left me teary-eyed. Sean Penn is brilliant, as usual!
Seven Pounds -- 8 out of 10. Very touching story. I'm not a Will Smith fan either. I like him more in comedy & action films. But I can't deny that his acting was good here.
Taken -- 9 out of 10. Just an ordinary storyline -- a kidnapped daughter, a protective father who is some sort of a "superman" & single-handedly fought all his adversaries. Great movie pacing, though. And I just love Liam Neeson! As always, he was good in the dramatic scenes & was surprisingly great in the action scenes, as well.
Body of Lies -- 8.5 out of 10. Somehow, I believe that there's a truth to the way the movie pictured the Agency -- i.e., the deceit & lies they do come up with. I like the way irony was shown -- life in a war-stricken country with all the hardships, chaos & bloodshed taking place while the very people pulling the strings are living in comfort, enjoying their families & friends. No wonder, they don't give a damn to whatever collateral damage their decisions may bring! Kinda scary actually. I wasn't much of a DiCapprio fan, but I'm starting to like him now, seeing him grow into a fine actor, taking more serious & difficult roles movie after movie. The film didn't do much justice to Russell Crowe, though. I felt that any actor could have done his role equally well.
Beverly Hills Chihuahua -- 8 out of 10. Great movie for kids. I just happen to be a kid at heart & I love dogs, so I found this really cute & entertaining!
Punisher: War zone -- 4 out of 10. Hard action. Shockingly violent! Not my kind of movie. If you like heads blown up, bodies exploding into dusts or pierced with sticks & barbecued, then you’ll love this film. Liked the first Punisher film (with John Travolta as the villain) much better.
Bedtime Stories – 8 out of 10. Love the story. Good for kids. Adam Sandler was quite wholesome, for a change.
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans – 8 out of 10. I love the Underworld series. Nice movie. A love story of two unlikely characters. Nice camera effects too.
X-men Origins: Wolverine – 9 out of 10. I like all X-men films & I just love Hugh Jackman! Great movie & effects. Showed the more human side of Wolverine.
The Spirit – 1 out of 10. Boring! The story line was unclear & jammed for me. A very forgettable film.
Righteous Kill -- 10 out of 10. I happen to be a great fan of both De Niro & Pacino & this is one rare movie when you get to see them both. I also love the twist in the end.
Quarantine -- 5 out of 10. Not much substance. Didn't like it that much.
Cloverfield -- 6 out of 10. Great idea & effects but I hated the shaky camera, too. Gave me a headache!
Confessions of a Shopaholic -- 7 out of 10. Funny. If you just want to relax & be entertained, this is one movie. No need to let your brains work. Just watch & eat your popcorn.
Twilight -- 2 out of 10. Bored me to death!!! I love the book, though.
I haven't watched the other films you've listed. I will try to take hold of a copy of any of those & will later give you my review. :-)
