It is normal for a child of this age to start having fears but she is obviously suffering from anxiety and if she slept with you ,or in the same room, then it would help her at this time.It is a chemical inbalance in the brain that causes this and the sufferer has no control over it apart from learning how to breath so as not to hyperventilate. As a long time sufferer myself i think it is most important that she doesn't sleep in a room on her own because it will bring on fear. This is not your fault so don't blame yourse...

I would go to your local library and find a book that you can read together. Sometimes if advice comes from a book it is more convincing and will help you to come up with best way to communicate and relate to her fears.
Good Luck to you!

Your daughter suffers from thanotophobia - fear of dying. There has to be a basis for her fear - something she heard, death of a friend, something she saw on T.V. You need to get to the root of the problem. The fact that she is having panic attacks at such a young age may be a precursor to clinical depression. This would be a good time for her to see a child psychologist. You need to nip this problem in the bud!
