What's landlords responsibility re electrical wiring in rentals in UK?

Please advise whether it is necessary for a landlord to arrange for electrical wiring system to be checked by an electrician if a property is rented out. The wiring system was put in in 1997 so is relatively recent.

It's the landlord's responsibility to correct any wiring or plumbing problems in a rental.
