Does Legal Aid have to be repaid if a substantial amount of money is received following a divorce settlement? A response to this question would be very much appriciated.

Legal aid doesn't handle divorces where I live, and I have no clue where you live, but I checked with a lawyer friend of mine, and he said that in most places it does not have to be paid back because when you used their services, you couldn't afford a lawyer.
