Alberta dating laws - need serious help!
Asked by: anv2008 from -
I was wondering if it illegal with the new consent laws in such in Alberta for a guy that just turned 18 two days ago to continue to date a 14 year old. If someone could direct me to a site that explains something or like where you could ask an expert that'd be great

You don't need a site! But you might need a lawyer! You could be in major trouble if your relationship with this girl is anything but platonic! Wait two years and try again!

According to section 151 of the Criminal Code in Canada, the legal age for consenting to a sexual activity is fourteen (14) years
'Every person who, for a sexual purpose, touches, directly or indirectly, with a part of the body or with an object, any part of the body a person under the age of fourteen (14) years is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years or is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction.'"...
