refunding estate agent fees

i am in the process of renting and i had to pay £250 estate agent fees for refrences and admin and was told before i paid that they would get refunded if the landlord pulled out of the tenancey ! i paid it and my check came back and showed i have a ccj ( that i disnt know about ) and now the landlord wants to pull out of the tenancey am i entitle to have my £250 refunded as i havent pulled out of it !

Well you were told that you were intilted to a refund and the agent probably got you to sign a form. So yes ,it is still your money.If they don't want to give it back then you will have to take the matter further.
